Make Poverty History is a secular campaign but is working closely with a sister church-based campaign known as Micah Challenge, which seeks to mobilise Australian Christians against poverty and which has the support of many churches and church leaders.

Micah Challenge in Australia is part of the global Christian campaign working in support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The campaign seeks to raise a powerful voice for - and with – people living in impoverished communities around the world.

Jesus and the Old Testament prophets spoke out for the poor. As followers of Jesus, churches can work together to bring kindness and justice to poor communities. Micah Challenge is taking part of its inspiration from the words found in the Bible. The Book of Micah 6:8 says - "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness and to walk humbly with your God."

By working with Make Poverty History, Micah Challenge promotes a range of public activities to Australians.
